FilmMAKER
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Kaylee Kim is a Korean-American editor and filmmaker dedicated to shaping raw footage into powerful, character-driven stories. She holds a BFA from Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts and is a recent alum of the Handy Foundation Story Editor Fellowship.
With a focus on crafting intimate, emotionally grounded narratives, she has assisted and edited both short and feature-length documentaries. Her previous work includes Black Outside, which premiered on Prime Video and Apple TV, and By Walking, which premiered at the Nashville Film Festival.
Her recent credits include the Netflix documentary BTS: The Return and the short documentary Paving the Way, selected for the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival and Tribeca Film Festival. She is currently working on an untitled feature documentary about a renowned Olympian while directing and editing her own film, Umma’s Cut, supported by the Kartemquin Zhao Chen AAPI Fund.
Across her work, Kaylee values collaboration and the balance between structure and discovery in the edit, pursuing projects that amplify underrepresented voices and reveal humanity in everyday moments.
Outside of filmmaking, she enjoys baking bread and expanding her palate through new cuisines.
